Our organic Basmati Rice is of the variety Organic Super Kernel. It has a wonderfully light earthy taste. Our wholegrain Basmati has that extra note of rich wholegrain flavour.
Basmati is ideal for all savoury dishes, Indian curries and dals, and is perfect for rice pans. It fits as an amazing side dish for fish, meat and vegetable dishes. It’s a truly versatile rice!
Grain
Our Himalayan wholegrain Basmati is a long grain rice and complies with the stringent regulations for the Code of Practice on Basmati.
According to the purity requirement for original Basmati rice, the grains must have an average length of at least 6.5 mm, the foreign rice content must not exceed 7%, and the rice must have the typical Basmati flavour.
Most of our Basmati grains actually exceed these requirements. They are usually 7-8mm long.
Consistency
Our organic wholegrain Basmati is very loose and has a strong bite true to what you expect from the best Basmati.
Origin
Our "Organic Super Kernel" Basmati rice is organically grown at the foot of the Himalayas in Pakistan. The Himalaya region is considered the best growing area in the world for Basmati rice. In fact, according to the Code of Practice on Basmati, rice can only be sold as Basmati if it comes from certain areas in India and Pakistan.
